Such are the events of the original Seventies TV scare-a-thonDon't Be Afraid of the Dark, and we've been waiting with bated breath for news of the Guillermo del Toro produced remake. Finally, said news has come.

According toVarietyFilmDistrict has partnered with Miramax to release Guillermo Del Toro'sDon't Be Afraid of the Darkwide on August 12th.

Produced by Del Toro and Mark Johnson, the film marks the directorial debut of Troy Nixey."Miramax has done an inspired job finding the right home for our film that took 15 years to get made,"said Del Toro in a statement.

For those unfamiliarDon't Be Afraid of the Darkcenters on a young girl, portrayed by Madison, who's sent to live with her father (Pearce) and his girlfriend (Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, where she unwittingly unleashes malevolent creatures bent on destroying all of them.
